Why is The PMP Exam changing in 2020?
To know about the industry how is it working and what changes it requires, PMI arranges research every 3 to 5 years so that new emerging trends, authority, and workflow of project managers won’t be affected. Likewise, upon the basis of the research made back in 2015, the current Exam Content Outline was declared in June 2015. And in 2019, the New Exam Content Outline was designed as per the research held in 2019 and it will be in effect by January 2, 2021.
What Are the Changes in the Exam Pattern?
There are three major changes can be seen in the New Exam Pattern
Change Number 1
The weightage on Agile and Hybrid approaches is increasing in the PMP certification online exam. While the weightage of the Agile and Hybrid questions is 20% and the majority of questions are based on Predictive or Waterfall Methodology which is 80%, this will be expected to divide into equal weightage of 50% i.e. Predictive or Waterfall: About 50% and Agile (Adaptive) + Hybrid: About 50%.
Change Number 2
Over the last 2 decades, inspecting the changes in the PMP Exam has made it tougher day by day. Every change in the PMP Exam makes it difficult and advanced with a new scope of learning. However, it is not officially announced by the PMI itself this observation is made after conducting a thorough inspection of the candidates who have passed the exam.

There are five process groups in the current PMP syllabus which are as follows:
- Monitoring and Controlling
While the new PMP certification online Exam pattern and the basis of evaluating a candidate under 3 categories:
People – 42% of questions from this category,
Process – 50% of questions from this category,
Business Environment – 8% of the questions from this category.
Important PMP Exam dates to remember if you are a PMP aspirant
- June 30, 2019 – PMI published the new PMP Exam Content Outline
- Dec 31, 2020 – Last day to take the current version of the PMP Exam.
- January 2, 2021 – First day to take the new version of the PMP Exam.
