The days, it’s important to pack in the flavor, quantity, and everything in between without the worry of presentation—the days where one wants only to eat to one’s heart’s content.

Apart from the wonderfulness that brown rice healthy fried rice is, it is by far one of the easiest dishes to prepare and also a great way to use up leftover long-grain brown rice made the day before.

Here are two ways to make sure that you make the best-fried rice made using organic brown rice available.

Non-Vegan Option

Ingredients

  • A cup of Italian brown rice cooked according to the instructions on the package
  • 3 Italian sausages with the sausage casing removed and then sliced into even but small pieces
  • A small onion that is cut into eighths
  • About three serrano peppers that are thinking sliced with all seeds removed
  • A large red bell pepper, cut thinly
  • Four minced garlic cloves
  • 1.5 tbsps of soy sauce
  • Oil

Instructions

  • Firstly, cook your favorite long-grain brown rice according to the instructions on the package. Allow it to cool off completely before using it to make the fried rice. You can achieve the best results if you allow it to cool in the refrigerator for a couple of hours prior to using it. The rice needs to dry and not moist. It shouldn’t be sticky either.
  • Heat a wok and add oil to it. Once the oil is steaming hot, add the vegetables and protein into the vegetables and let the fat from the meat release before adding the onions and garlic.
  • Next, add in the rice and mix it thoroughly. Stir it well and then add in the soy sauce. Continue to stir it well so that the soy sauce is coated all over the rice mixture and mixed well.
  • Your favorite non-vegan meal is ready for consumption. You can also eat this with a side of salad or steamed and sauteed fresh vegetables.

Vegan Option

If you are looking for a vegan alternative to this very non-vegan fried rice, then most definitely skip using the meat protein and make do with the rest of the ingredients. However, here’s another recipe you might as well try if you are craving for an Asian twist to your Italian brown fried rice.

Ingredients

  • A cup of Italian brown rice cooked according to the instructions on the package
  • 1 tbsp of finely chopped ginger
  • Two minced garlic cloves
  • Finely chopped chili peppers
  • Two stalks of thinly sliced bamboo shoots
  • Chopped green onions
  • A medium shredded carrot
  • Oil of your preference
  • 2 Tbsps of light soy sauce
  • A handful of chopped basil, cilantro, and mint leaves
  • Crushed peanuts

Instructions

  • Firstly, heat oil in a wok and then add ginger, garlic, chili peppers, onions, and carrots. Cook it for about 3 minutes while stirring it often.
  • Next, add in the bamboo shoots, curry paste, and soy sauce. Cook this for a minute until the paste has dissolved, after which, turn the heat up to a complete high and add in the cooled or chilled Italian brown rice and combine well by stirring it often. Stirring often could prevent the rice from burning.
  • Turn off the heat and then toss in the chopped handful of mint, basil, and cilantro, distributing them well. Then add in the peanuts and lime wedges for a yummy meal.
